While attending Stetson University College of Law, Belayne D. Guerrero performed pro-bono legal research for The National Clearinghouse for Science, Technology & the Law and mediated parties as a certified county mediator with the Florida Supreme Court.

Ms. Guerrero worked for Broward County's Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender, where she defended individuals charged with misdemeanor crimes including DUI, DWLS, carrying a concealed weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, assault, battery, lewd display, possession, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Ms. Guerrero appeared in court on a regular basis for motions, trials, and violation of probation hearings.

Prior to joining Koch & Trushin P.A., Ms. Guerrero worked as an associate attorney for the firm of Essen, Essen, Susaneck & Cohen P.A., where she handled all aspects of misdemeanor and felony DUI cases and achieved not guilty verdicts for her clients charged with DUI offenses. Ms. Guerrero represented her clients at driver license suspension administrative hearings before the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
